GLP‑1 medication, prescribed and managed by your own physician.

We prescribe FDA-approved GLP-1 medications for weight, including Wegovy® (semaglutide) and Zepbound® (tirzepatide). Your physician decides whether one is right for you after reviewing your history and labs, and it always comes with a health coach and one-on-one visits.

What the main trials found

We prescribe the FDA-approved options and choose with you based on your health and goals. These two are approved specifically for chronic weight management.

Wegovy®

semaglutide, once-weekly injection
14.9%

average body weight lost over 68 weeks in STEP 11

How it works
Acts like GLP-1, a gut hormone that signals fullness and slows how quickly the stomach empties.
Approved for
Chronic weight management in adults and children 12 and older with obesity, or adults with overweight plus a weight-related condition. Also approved to lower the risk of heart attack and stroke in adults with heart disease and obesity or overweight.

Zepbound®

tirzepatide, once-weekly injection
20.9%

average body weight lost over 72 weeks on the 15 mg dose in SURMOUNT-12

How it works
Acts on two hormones, GLP-1 and GIP, which together affect appetite and how the body handles sugar.
Approved for
Chronic weight management in adults with obesity, or overweight plus a weight-related condition. Also approved for moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnea in adults with obesity.

Trial averages are not a promise of individual results, and everyone in these trials was also making lifestyle changes. Ozempic® and Mounjaro® contain the same active ingredients and are approved for type 2 diabetes; if you have diabetes, your physician will talk through which fits.

Is a GLP‑1 right for me?

BMI 30+

or 27+ with a weight-related condition such as high blood pressure, prediabetes or high cholesterol. Your physician confirms after your history and labs, and some people do better without medication.

Often a good fit

  • You've tried to change how you eat and the food noise keeps winning
  • Your weight is affecting your blood sugar, blood pressure, sleep or joints
  • You want medication with a physician watching it, not a prescription in the mail

Not a fit, or needs a closer look

  • Personal or family history of medullary thyroid cancer or MEN 2
  • Pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning a pregnancy
  • Past pancreatitis, gallbladder disease, or serious stomach problems
  • A history of disordered eating (we'll talk about the right kind of care)

What does it cost?

Brand-name medication prices change often, so we give you real numbers for the program and the medication, not a range.

  • Cash-payNo insurance paperwork for the program.
  • FSA/HSA eligibleUse pre-tax dollars for program fees.
  • Medication priced up frontBefore you commit to anything.

What are the side effects?

The most common are nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, constipation and stomach pain. They're usually worst when starting or raising the dose, which is why we go up slowly and check in with you.

Less common but serious risks include pancreatitis, gallbladder problems, kidney problems from dehydration, low blood sugar with some diabetes medicines, and serious allergic reactions. Call us, or 911 in an emergency, if you have severe stomach pain that won't go away.

Important safety information

Wegovy® and Zepbound® carry a boxed warning about the risk of thyroid C-cell tumors. Do not use them if you or a family member has had medullary thyroid carcinoma or if you have Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2). Your physician reviews your history before prescribing.

Common questions

Will I have to stay on it forever?

Not necessarily, but plan for the long term. When people in the STEP 1 extension stopped semaglutide, they regained, on average, about two-thirds of the weight they had lost within a year.3 That's why coaching on food, sleep, stress and strength starts from day one, and why we build a plan for what comes after with you.

Do I have to count calories?

No. Your coach helps you make small changes that fit your real week. Many patients find the medication makes those changes feel easier.

How quickly will I notice a difference?

Many people notice less food noise within the first few weeks, while the dose is still low. Weight change is gradual and varies from person to person. Your physician will set expectations with you at your first visit.

Can I get my medication by video visit?

Yes, in the states where we practice. You can also be seen in person in Manhattan Beach or Las Vegas.

Do you take insurance?

Mindful Wellness is cash-pay and doesn't bill insurance for its programs. Program fees are FSA/HSA eligible, and we walk you through every cost up front, including medication.
